Mihi Weavings

Theo, Ruby, Emily-Jane, William and Hayley explain the colours they used in their weaving of their Mihi.

A Mihi is how Maori people introduce themselves. We talk about our mountain, our river and the town we are from. Then we introduce our father, then mother and last of all our name.

People listening to our Mihi can make connections to the place we are from, and our family - our whakapapa. (Our relationships with individuals, families and land)

We have to share our Mihi when we visit the marae on Wednesday.

Term 2 starts on Monday

The two weeks of the holidays has gone very quickly. We are looking forward to hearing about what you have been up to!

It was sad to say goodbye to Emma, but we are looking forward to meeting Alex on Monday. It will be confusing having two Alex's!

I hope you have been practising your mihi. We go to the marae on Wednesday.

Can't wait to see all your smiling faces...

Mrs Aberhart and Mrs Moore.

Quadblogging

This week we are starting quadblogging with 3 other schools around the world!

Two schools are from the United Kingdom (England)  and the other one is from Indonesia - Jakarta.

Where in the world is Jakarta?  We will have to find out!

Each week one blog is the focus for the other 3 schools to visit and leave comments.

It will be a fantastic way to share our learning with children of a similar age who go to school in different parts of the world.  An authentic way to share our learning about New Zealand!

Our first blog we will be visiting is -

Mr Eaglestone's class from Jakarta.  BIS Mice!

Our special cities

We are learning about the special cities in New Zealand.

We looked at different photos and had to decided where they were from. Some of us recognized some things. We all learnt something new.

Easter Egg Hunt Movie

Easter Egg Hunt

Easter bunny wrote us a letter.   He sent us on an easter egg hunt.  We found clues all around the school to find the Easter eggs.  We found the eggs in Mrs Aberhart's office!

When we got back to class we wrote Easter Bunny a letter to say thanks.  Then we drew pictures and wrote our own message.  It was soooooooooo exciting!  Thanks Easter Bunny!
